This narrative discusses a malnourished dog named Holden who weighed only 22 pounds upon his arrival at the crowded shelter following his apprehension by the authorities during a drug raid.
The shelter was at maximum capacity upon Holden’s arrival, prompting them to issue an appeal for assistance stating that he should weigh at least 14 pounds, but he weighs only 25 lbs. He was extremely famished and attempted to eat anything he could find, even resorting to consuming cat food from the cat enclosures.
Due to limited capacity, the shelter had to accommodate him in a spacious and cozy blanket within the intake area. Therefore, he needed to be relocated from that location. The shelter was committed to securing an alternative arrangement for him outside the shelter, considering his amiable nature and good behavior.
At that moment, Releash Atlanta rescued the Labrador mix, who was ten years old. Upon their arrival, he underwent a thorough examination, revealing a tumor weighing 7 pounds. The tumor was impacting fundamental life functions such as respiration and nourishment, posing significant challenges since it was connected to his spleen.
Fortunately, he underwent a triumphant operation and continued to wag his tail repeatedly, even though his head remained lowered. Thankfully, he was subsequently placed under the care of an exceptionally skilled rescuer named Melissa Lentz, who eagerly welcomed him into her home.
Holden slouched during his journey back home, still fearful and weary. Subsequently, Holden began to regain weight, and he will remain there until he discovers a permanent residence.
